Keren Public School

Keren Public School provides education to serve the nation better in all discipline, good at conduct & excellent in communication. The medium of instruction is English. Hindi and Tamil are taught both as second and Third languages. The school works 6-day week, excluding the second Saturday.

Instructions for the students

1. Student must be punctual for the class. Those who come late or those who have been absent on the previous day, must submit the late attendance or absence record signed by their parents to the class teacher.

2. Pupils are responsible for the care of their personal belongings. Expensive jewels or ornaments are strongly discouraged and the school management takes no responsibility for their loss.

3. Students should always be clean and well dressed in complete uniform as mentioned earlier.

4. Changing of classrooms between periods should be done in silence.

5. Every pupil must possess the school diary which should be brought to school daily.

6. The bell before a class or assembly is a call to be obeyed promptly.

7. The pupils should not be absent from any test and examinations. No retest will be given in such cases.

8. Students should not leave the school premises during school hours without the permission of the Principal.

9. Parents or relatives are not allowed to meet the children or the teachers during school hours. If necessary they are allowed to do so with the permission of the Principal.

10. Any damage to the school building or property of the school by a student will have to be replaced by him.

11. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, neglect of homework, disobedience, disrespect towards teacher, malpractices in the exam hall and other irresponsible behaviors will lead to the expulsion of the student.

12. All students must be present on the re-opening day of the school after any vacation.

13. The students are continually assessed through out the year in various aspects like homework, attendance, classroom behavior and regular exam and promotion to next class is given based above. The final exam assures the effort of students.

14. As the medium of instruction is English, students are advised strictly to converse in English at school campus.

15. Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited inside the school campus.

16. Students are expected to be active and interactive during the class hours, based on this grade effort column will be given by the concerned teacher.

17. Discipline Cards: Blue cards are issued to well behavior students. Yellow cards are given for tardiness in arrival, attendance and submission for work. Pink and red cards are given for indiscipline in school, class or bus, three red cards will results in severe disciplinary action.

18. Removal from School Rolls: Students’ behavior which is not subject to school discipline and obedience will result in removal of students from school rolls after three warnings. An unhealthy continuous critical attitude of the parents towards the school would also result in removal of child’s name from school rolls as that would generate a negative attitude in the students’ behavior towards the teachers and the school management.

Instructions for the parents

1. The Achievement Record mirrors the progress and achievements of your child in the scholastic and co-scholastic areas. It is intended to help you to know and understand your child better.

2. The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation would be spread over two terms during one academic session. Each term will have two Formative Assessments and one Summative Assessment.

3. The focus is on identifying the talents of your child and empowering him/her with positive inputs.

4. The achievement record will be handed over to the parents for their perusal and signature in July, September, December and March. Please ensure that the same is returned to the school within three days of the receipt except in March when it can be retained by the parents.

5. Kindly ensure that your child does not miss any Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment.

6. The Achievement Record is an important document. Please ensure that the record is not lost.

7. We provide good transport facilities. Our school buses run from the following places to the school and back.

Common Instructions

School Terms (Tamil & English)

• There are two Terms in the Academic Year.

• First Term includes Formative Assessment 1(Pen-Paper Test), Formative Assessment 2 and Summative Assessment 1 (Pen-Paper Test). The duration of the First Term is from 1st April to 30th September in an academic session.

• Second Term includes Formative Assessment 3 (Pen-Paper Test), Formative Assessment 4 and Summative Assessment 2 (Pen-Paper Test). The duration of the Second Term is from 1st October to 31st March in an academic session.

• The school fees should be paid for 12 months in four installments, April to June, July to September, October to December, and January to March. The school fees have to be paid before 10th of the first month of each term. All fee receipts should be produced for verification, when demanded.

• The medium of instruction is English. Hindi is taught as the second language. Tamil is taught as the third language. The school works 6-day week, excluding the second Saturday.

Admission Regulations

Age criteria:
Eligible age for admission: A child must be 5 years old on 31st March in the academic year in which admission is being sought for admission to class I and for admission to class II the age must be 6 years. For class III age must be 7 years and for class IV age must be 8 years as on 31st March.

Admission Regulations:

  • Application for Admission and the prospectus/brochure may be provided to the parent on payment of Rs.100/-
  • Application forms complete in all respects and accompanied by all required documents must be submitted to the school office within the prescribed date

Attested copies of the following documents would be required to be submitted along with the application form for registration:-

For Class I, certificate of proof of age in the form of a birth certificate issued by the authority competent to register births.

For other classes, the date of birth recorded in the transfer certificate issued by a school recognized by the State Education Department would be accepted.
