Keren School was established in the year 1985 at Checkanurani with 55 and two teachers. The sole purpose of the school was to give quality education to the children of Checkanurani and the hamlets around it and to train youngsters to serve, uplift and govern their own society with wisdom. This humble beginning has been blessed to emerge as one of the most prestigious schools in Madurai West growing in strength and quality of education provided. 

Keren widened its horizon as Keren Public School was founded in the year 2011, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary education and opened another branch at Usilampatti in 2016 to make quality education accessible to a wider population. Keren schools emphasise educating students for life, aiming at excellence in academics, character and skill.
